The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations requires every employer to appoint one or more competent persons to assist him in undertaking the measures he needs to take to comply with the requirements and prohibitions imposed on him by relevant Health and Safety legislation.

 

If possible, this person should be appointed from the employer’s workforce, but if the competence or experience is not available in-house, the competent person or persons, can be appointed from an external source.
